About Doylestown:

  •   In addition to it's brick-paved streets, historic architecture and Victorian-style street lamps, Doylestown Borough's amenities include fine restaurants and quaint sidewalk cafes, unique shops, historic attractions and cultural events - not to mention that it is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in the eastern United States.

  •   In 2001, the National Trust for Historic Preservation cited Doylestown as one of its Dozen Distinctive Destinations and as "a place where four world-class museums are within walking distance," even comparing it to larger cities such as nearby Philadelphia for it's cultural and historic significance (some of the older parts of town are listed in the National Register of Historic Places). Doylestown has also been featured in many other articles and publications including National Geographic's Guide to Small Town Escapes.

  •   Doylestown traces its origins back to 1745 and "William Doyle's Tavern" - located at the crossroads originally linking Norristown and New Hope (now U.S. Route 202) and Philadelphia and Easton (now PA Route 611) - at what is now the northwest corner of Main and State streets. The Fountain House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built at this same location in 1758 (and where Starbucks is now located).
