Ali and Theresa Nejad have for over two decades been involved in the design, production and distribution of handmade rugs, an enterprise which has required a considerable amount of travel to the rug production centers of the world - including Afghanistan. Despite the full-time demands of the type of industry they are involved with, they have still managed to donate freely of their time and resources: In 2006 they donated $50,000 to the Oriental Rug Importers Association Charitable Fund - an organization committed to improving the health, welfare, and economic status of needy children and their families in major capet weaving districts around the world. In 2007 they were among a special envoy of business owners who traveled with U.S. Department of Commerce officials to Afghanistan as volunteers enlisted to help resurrect the country's centuries-old - and war-damaged - carpet industry.

The furniture’s richly textured chair and sofa fabrics were selected to perfectly complement the colors of the Tabriz Oriental rug. Philadelphia Oriental Rug Cleaning & Repair

A Rittenhouse Square couple recently brought to our Nejad Gallery showroom in Doylestown Bucks County a magnificent Persian Oriental Rug purchased for their Philadelphia residence many years ago.  Unfortunately the rug had been placed partially under furniture and when new furniture was delivered, the client made the unpleasant discovery that their prized antique Persian Serapi had a great deal of moth damage.

Because Nejad Gallery had come highly recommended by friends, the couple would not trust their valuable Oriental rug to any other rug wash and repair company.  The cleaning and reweaving of the damaged areas took over six weeks and the clients were absolutely ecstatic with the expert repair work.  After careful inspection they were actually unable to detect the original pile from the repaired areas.  Their relief of having their beautiful rug restored and tremendous gratitude to our company is really
what makes our business so satisfying.

A very dear client of mine who has purchased many rugs from me over  the years stopped by Doylestown this week to congratulate everyone on Nejad Gallery’s 30th Anniversary.  Her magnificent home in Furlong, PA was professionally decorated by a dear friend of mine and is one of the most beautifully finished homes in Bucks County.  Every room is perfectly appointed with antique furniture intermixed with hand selected quality pieces purchased during trips to New York and High Point, North Carolina trade showrooms.  Every floor, hallway, staircase and vestibule is covered with exquisite investment quality Persian Tabriz, Esfahan and Nain rugs that I sold to her over the years. Careful coordination of fabrics, wall coverings and paint colors make each room a spectacular living space.

As we reminisced, we both became nostalgic remembering the elaborate preparations for her daughter’s wedding and working with one very flamboyant party planner for a special dinner party fund raiser. Sitting on a pile of rugs, we talked for a long while until she got up, gave me a big hug and said how much she appreciated all my hard work and how beautiful our rugs have made her home, wishing us another successful 30 years in business.  I couldn’t ask for a more wonderful compliment!

Doylestown’s Nejad Rugs at the Hub of Arts Festival Activity

Nejad Rugs Showroom located at the corner of State and Main Streets

Featuring over 150 Vendors, live music, food court, family activities and a multi-town Bike Race, the 23rd annual Doylestown Arts Festival held on Sept. 13 & 14 was a great way to celebrate the incoming fall season and to enjoy the final warm days of summer.

The event, a two-day juried festival of local Bucks County artists, was held outdoors in the heart of beautiful Doylestown, spanning State, Main, W Oakland and Hamilton Streets – and putting Nejad Rugs Gallery Showroom at the hub of the activity. Some of the rugs on display in front of the Nejad showroom ( see photo – inset ) included Southwestern Rugs, Bright Rugs and Bucks County Hook Rug Collections – some of the more festive and colorful-themed rugs in the Nejad vast inventory of rug styles.

Nejad Rugs participated in the 23rd Annual Doylestown Arts Festival

Nejad Rugs has long been an established retail business serving Doylestown and the surrounding Bucks County communities from the same location at the corner of Main and State. From the vintage hand-gilded gold-leaf lettering on the Nejad display windows to the informal yet elegant 2-story showroom interior to the Nejad full-service customer approach this is a business that has a genuine organic quality and feel to the brick and mortar. Come in and browse the rugs on display in a relaxed and comfortable showroom setting – business hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10AM – 5PM and Sundays 12PM – 5PM, Monday and evenings by appointment.

Besides the area rugs on display some of the items being offered by the array of vendors included handmade soaps, candles, hardwood furniture, stained glass panels, jewelry, handbags, clothing, photographs and much more. The event also featured the Thompson Bucks County Classic, the second annual bike race from the borough of New Hope all the way to the festivities of the Doylestown Arts Festival. Of course it was a great opportunity for local artists to display and sell their artworks and the turnout was impressive – the weather made to order – and Bucks County’s largest event of the year was, decidedly, a success.

Choosing the perfect Oriental rug for this elegant and formal room with its focal point being a classic black grand piano required a carefully selected group of beautiful fine quality rugs, each complementing the formality of the space while adding its own magnificent statement.

Although all of the rugs shown to the client were strikingly beautiful, it was Nejad’s gorgeous Tabriz rug with its rich black center, burgundy border and soft ivory medallion that was unanimously chosen by Mr. Nejad and the family members.

The end result is a lovely, well-balanced, stylishly appointed room with sophistication and unimposing grandeur that we know our client’s family and friends will enjoy for many years.

Hand-Woven Tapestry

This illustrious tapestry came to Nejad from a client that was in search of professional repair services. The tapestry had a hole through the bottom right area of the piece, about 2-3″ inches in size. After careful analysis by the experts at Nejad, the design was re-created and the tapestry’s hole was restored to a very close original.

Our client had also asked for Nejad to add a wall hanging rod sleeve to the piece so she could enjoy the comfort of the newly-repaired, picturesque tapestry in the warmth of her home.
